A Schedule Version is a version of planned work that if fullfilled would lead to your projects being completed. Schedule versions can be generated as often as the organization would like (daily, weekly, hourly, and on demand). Each time the scheduling engine runs, a new version is generated. The prior version is always accessible for review and comparison. The latest schedule version is always the current project plan used throughout Odin.
Schedule versions are an important part of Odin's core functionality, but they can also be used to experiment with different types of working structures and governing project rules. Each version will show you different optimal solutions for works in hand.
Each one includes a complete detail of works and financial forecasts ready for updating.
The old version is always locked down and un-editable, although, all previous data from the old schedule is copied into this new schedule so you can reference and edit the past in this new version.
In a rough example for practical use, if an update is absorbed today by a worker but the worker completed less than the amount forecasted for them, than during Odin's Generation that afternoon it will take into account that a forecasted piece of work was not complete and will set it in the new queue to be done on a new day, thereby or cascading works done by the same resource will also move forward in time and this may casuse a break in the flow of resource availability which may delay other projects and this might cause Odin to shuffle resources around so the expansion of time in this first project can be resolved and doesn't interfere with business productivity or other project completions.
Odin has many mechanisms that respond to scenarios like the above. Decisions are made to accomodate many things including project completion dates, resource availability, materials and schedule directives (which govern the importance of profits in the business).
Each Schedule also has a financial forecast and actual representation, the actuals cascade through each version and the forecasts change based on the scheduler optimizing workloads based on input from the field.
